“We’re all about the joy of food and providing an experience to remember,” says Jean and Dave Thompson, owners of District36. “It doesn’t matter if you dress in jeans or shorts or want to dress up for dinner. Our restaurants are about truly enjoying the experience once you’re here.”
Central Iowans know the Thompson’s first restaurant, the locally famous Urban Grill, so it was very exciting when they announced their second location would open in The District at Prairie Trail. They designed the Prairie Trail building to fit the residents, the location and their relaxed-yet-elegant style. Located on SW Vintage Parkway, District36 Wine Bar and Grille has been dazzling diners since opening in the summer of 2016.
“When we learned about The District in Prairie Trail,” says Dave, “we just felt it was right. It’s a place where people want to come and relax and enjoy each other and have a great meal. Our focus is always on our customers and what makes it special for them. We already know our seafood nachos are a favorite here at District36 and we try new things all the time, too. We love Ankeny!”
Dave and Jean believe in becoming part of the community and having their restaurant reflect the lifestyle. “A satisfying wine experience is part of that equation for our customers,” Dave continues.
People who love The District in Prairie Trail have embraced District36. Customers love the menu, the wine experience, the wraparound lakeside patio facing Lake Promenade and the total atmosphere. With plenty of indoor seating, District36 can accommodate an intimate dinner for two, large groups or private parties.
Two busy restaurants keep Dave and Jean busy, too. Today, their son and daughter wok side-by-side with the couple as they continue to tailor their unique brand to patrons here in The District. Check out District36 Wine Bar & Grille!
